I’m in an airport lounge and have been going pretty much non-stop since getting here, but I wanted to write a quick post to let everyone know I’m here and having a great time so far.
By far the best thing has been reuniting with the Baylor team here – my old/new boss, the very talented director who replaced me when I left, and the Tingathe staff who are still doing their thing identifying, educating, and following pregnant women and children in their community to prevent HIV transmission and otherwise ensure HIV+ kids are getting treated appropriately in the healthcare system where they have too often been an afterthought.
And now the travels begin! After a week in Lilongwe, Malawi, I’ve now arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa, the larger neighbor to the south of our eventual home, Pretoria. But only briefly! Today I set off for the first of many trips over the coming weeks, starting with Gaborone, Botswana followed by Lesotho next week and Namibia the week after that.
I’ll post more again soon, but for now I’ll just share a few photos!
